CHART OF THE DAY: In Case You Had Any Doubts About Where Google’s Revenue Comes From
Rafer sez:But really, they care about Adsense for Content, open net standards, and fairly adjudicating black hat SEO issues.

still, that sliver of red and green is worth nearly $2 BILLION.

Good point.

Rafer sez:It’s worth a lot out here in startup land, but thinking Google cares about that $2B is the same mistake as thinking that Apple cares about App Store revenues.

@Rafer: Google cares about the red slice but not for the revenue - for the 90% reach for its user data profiles it gives them (w/ Goog analytics).  That red slice gives both incredible search data and ad targeting data.

Rafer sez:Yes, it’s distribution and market-making data for both, but those are assets that need to be turned over and refreshed every few years. Both companies need to completely re-plant those fields real darn soon now. Apple’s plan — to abandon iPhone apps for HTML5 web apps — is credible. Google’s crappy, “fast” follower approach to the social Internet feels is going to refresh Google’s base like Windows Vista refreshed Microsoft’s.
