If you simply must have some sweets once in a while, a small amount of agave nectar every once in a while isn’t going to kill you. Just don’t buy into the idea that it’s any better for you than plain old sugar or HFCS.

Pick one. Plain old sugar (not great) and HFCS (poison) are a world apart health-wise.

Charlie says: Actually, Scott, I think Marco’s right about HFCS and sugar being similar. Watch this video from Dr. Robert Lustig (a pediatric nutritionist at UCSF), specifically from around minute 17 to around minute 23 (but, really, the whole thing is excellent).

@charlieparker that video is actually my source for the statement. The two substances are bad for you, but he only calls one of them poison. Re-watch the liver metabolism bits. “Ethanol without the buzz,” etc.
